#7 Movie Review: The Haunting in Connecticut 2: Ghosts of Georgia (2013)

Movie number SEVEN!!and going back to a genre which i love….horror, its an older movie i watched from 2013!

So lets get into it, the synopsis….

A historic Southern home’s new residents (Abigail Spencer, Chad Michael Murray) come face to face with a malevolent force. Simple right, also it was based on true events so it did peek my interest.

The Cast ( I will just point out the main characters of the movie, if you like to see the full cast click here)
  • Abigail Spencer as Lisa Wyrick
  • Emily Alyn Lind as Heidi Wyrick
  • Chad Michael Murray as Andy Wyrick
  • Grant James as Mr. Gordy
  • Katee Sackhoff as Joyce
The mystery levels of this horror movie at time were literally insane (in a good way). Every five minutes you will learn something new and this pace keeps up until the last couple minutes of the movie, even during the big climactic showdown. I prefer layered movies in comparison to slashers and creature features because the anticipation and intrigue stays throughout the entire film.
Now onto the main characters Chad Michael Murray, whom has appeared in likes of the House of Wax remake. Another interesting casting choice Chad Michael Murray got plenty of screen time, but his role feels completely detached however on a postivie note he did show passionate in the role as a young father.
The female co-leads starting with Abigail Spencer, she does a great job as Lisa Wyrick, the mother designed to be loathed, which she pulls of very well her acting ability.  And Katee Sackhoff plays Joyce (sister of Lisa Wyrick) didn’t get too much screen time for a talented actress therefore was under used, and wasn’t too effected in the movie or the plot line.
Overall 3.5/5

#2 Movie Review: The Sweet Life

So here is my second movie review!, as before I will talk about the actual film synopsis, so you’ll know what the story is about….

Kenny Parker (Chris Messina) and Lolita Nowicki (Abigail Spencer), each struggling with their own brand of demons, meet by chance in Chicago and form a pact to travel across the country to the Golden Gate Bridge to commit suicide together.

The Cast (I will just point out the main characters of the movie, if you like to see the full cast just click here)

  • Chris Messina as Kenny Pantalio
  • Abigail Spencer as Lolita Nowicki
  • Karan Soni as Convenience Store Clerk
  • Tyson Ritter as Marlon
  • D. Evermore as Brandon

So here we go! My quick review be warned SPOILERS!…

Firstly  I must say both lead actors Chris Messina and Abigail Spencer showed natural charisma and vulnerability that’s right for the genre of a movie. There were some very comedic scenes such as the attempted robbery of the convenience store followed by the pickup off the hitchhikers (play off, of the fake gun from convenience store) the stolen a car with a kidney getting cops to help out and the therapy dance haha. But also had dramatic aspect when Kenny visited his ex whom left him at the alter and when Lalita went to see her mother…such touching moments. Both Rob Spera and Jared Rappaport deserve a lot of praise for bring such a movie to our screens where The Sweet Life” lives up to its title. Would definitely recommend this movie everyone

Overall I would give this a 4/5
